Can We Talk?

Can we talk? The Bible calls "sin" sin because sin kills and destroys. If sin didn't kill and destroy, the Bible would have called it something else. There is a tendency in our society (churches?) to call sin something else: messing up, mistakes, moral failures.

It is sickening what happened at Penn State University to those young children. To protect a school's reputation and keep the sports money (we are talking millions and millions of dollars) rolling in, many people looked the other way to the horror that took place. This nation and our churches had better wake up. In the face of (and fear of) the "rights" crowd -- this group's rights and that group's rights -- you know what I'm talking about; our nation is tumbling headlong into a moral abyss that will destroy it.

What do we do? Pray, live right, do right, stand for right even in the face of opposition and violence - and that will happen. Up North Wisdom says when you vote, vote the Bible. Nothing will change if the church (Christians) stand for nothing and do nothing. Come on people -- Let the Church be the Church. Armor up and get moving into the war zones. And always remember from 1 Cron. 20 -- Be not afraid, the battle is not yours, but Gods. Thanks for reading.

  1. Just as sickening as people looking the other way is the response of some of the people who are in protest. One of the individuals who reported an incident of abuse, has been receiving threats. Unfortunately, voting the Bible is difficult, because I am hard-pressed to find any politician who follows God's Word. Government is not our answer. We have to take a stand and be Jesus' hands and feet in this world. In a world of a lot of gray, there are some things that will always remain black and white. God forgive us. Pray, pray, pray.

  3. I shudder knowing a report of child abuse is made every 10 seconds in America and 5 children die every day from abuse and these numbers continue to rise. We cannot protect our most vulnerable, and God says in Matthew 25:45&46 that we must. God created the church to show men how to find His love. It is our duty, it is our call, it is why we are created. The bridge over the stinking abyss you speak is the cross. We must get so close to God that the world can see Him and us wrapped in His arms. It is the love we show those who are vulnerable, week, and oppressed that protects them. The church is the last and only defense, America will fall if the church does not do its duty. As you said so perfectly...Church, be the Church. My prayer is to die swinging my sword, being the church, and to bring as many as I can to the battle in the process.

  4. Having kids now really makes me feel horrified about this kind of story. Especially when it involves such reputable people such as those at Penn State. It makes me feel sad for the families but for the school as well! Wow what a horrible situation!
